Spotlight on the Singapore Convention: Key Takeaways from the ABA ILS Annual Conference 2025 in New York

At this year’s ABA International Law Section (ILS) Annual Conference in New York, the American Bar Association (ABA) placed a strong emphasis on international mediation. Under the theme “What International Practitioners Need to Know about the Singapore Convention,” DITGES was represented by our partner Prof. Dr. Renate Dendorfer-Ditges.

The Singapore Convention, an international treaty, aims to facilitate the enforcement of mediated settlement agreements across borders (see www.singaporeconvention.org).

In her presentation, Prof. Dr. Dendorfer-Ditges explored the practical implications of the Convention, particularly in light of the European Union’s non-accession and the challenges associated with its implementation in practice.
